Loft insulation is a protective layer installed within your roof space. It can be positioned between the joists—the horizontal beams along your attic floor—or between the rafters, the angled beams that support your roof.
In either case, loft insulation reduces heat transfer between your home and the outside, keeping your living space warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Insulation placed between the joists retains heat in the rooms below, resulting in a cooler loft, while insulation in the rafters also preserves warmth within the roof space itself.
